For many years, progress in wireless communications technology in Australia was stagnant. With little investment into updating the ageing analogue terrestrial network outside of key metro areas, poor coverage and outdated physical infrastructure, there were very few options to stay connected.
During natural disasters and emergencies, these problems became even worse.
In 2015, Hypha was founded to solve this problem. Neil Jamieson and Ray Barnes had seen disasters unfold – from fires and floods to terror attacks – where communications infrastructure was destroyed or networks collapsed from overwhelming demand.
They set out to transform mission-critical communications by developing an ecosystem that didn’t rely on existing infrastructure and legacy systems.
Today, that integrated solution, HyphaONE, is being successfully deployed across government organisations and emergency services in Australia and the United States.

Neil Jamieson
Neil has 20 years of experience in satellite communications, with leadership roles across Africa, the Middle East and Asia. He’s a recognised leader in the industry and is helping shape the future of satellite push-to-talk technology.
Matt Franks
Matt is a top solutions engineer and Peplink professional. He leads the development and delivery of our innovative mesh networking solutions.
Grant Jamieson
Grant has been managing and implementing satellite networking solutions for more than two decades – having been both a Technical Director and Senior Satellite Engineer specialising in enterprise L-Band and VSAT.
Bruce Aitken
Bruce is the Chief Financial Officer with extensive experience in finance, supporting sound financial management and long-term business stability.
Steve Copplin
Steve is an experienced corporate advisor and company director. Formerly a professor at The University of Queensland, he has helped shepherd dozens of transformative businesses to success.
Scott Geldard
Scott has worked on some of the largest satellite, wireless and fixed network solutions over the last 30 years. His focus on regional communications has seen a long history of successful program delivery in these sectors.

John La Cava is the Head of RF Engineering & Workshops, leading wireless communications engineering and hands-on technical development.
Ian Gibson
Ian has supported the critical services sector for more than 20 years. Formerly a paramedic, he handles challenging situations every day.
Josh Lowe
Josh brings over 15 years of experience in government and enterprise technology sales, with a strong track record in driving growth and delivering mission-critical solutions. At Hypha, he focuses on expanding our communications and satellite solutions across key sectors including government, emergency services, mining, and remote industries.

Muria is a marketing and communications professional with experience across branding, content creation, digital strategy, and performance marketing in global environments.
In memory of Ray Barnes
Ray had over 15 years of experience in hardware-based software and enterprise solutions. Having developed cutting-edge software across communications, eHealth and telematics, Ray was highly regarded in the industry.
Tragically, we lost Ray at the end of 2023.
He was a brilliant developer and the brains behind our technology implementation. We wouldn’t be where we are today without him, and we now strive to build upon his legacy – to change the world in his honour.
